"Annabelle Morin died on December 9, 2008 after having received two doses of Gardasil under a program introduced by Quebec in September 2008. Annabelle’s mother Linda said her daughter received the first shot at a clinic in October 2008, and that the teenager vomited, became confused and incoherent and was unable to speak or walk, according to a QMI Agency report. Annabelle was taken to hospital where she was diagnosed with a migraine and sent home. The lawsuit alleges that Annabelle received a second dose of Gardasil at her school on Nov. 24, 2008 and again became ill. Two weeks later her parents found her dead in the bathtub."
"Secondary complications after Bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccination are unusual. We describe 3 immunocompetent children who developed osteomyelitis after BCG vaccination. The course of the disease is not dramatic, but marked changes are frequently visible in plain radiograph and MRI. The real-time polymerase chain reaction has an essential role to confirm the diagnosis of BCG osteomyelitis. With proper surgical intervention and chemotherapy, the prognosis is usually good."

All-cause anaphylaxis in the U.K. has been estimated at 8.4 per 100,000, of which 3.6% were reported following immunization. "The group aged 0–5 years reported the highest rate of vaccine-associated adverse events (82/100,000 doses). The DTwP vaccine exhibited the highest rate of adverse events. Common minor events were: fever (17,538), reactions at injection site (4470) and systemic side effects (2422). Rare events (by WHO definition) reported were: persistent crying (2666), hypotonic hyporesponsive episodes (3), encephalopathy (2) and febrile seizures (112). Severe events included: anaphylaxis (2), respiratory distress (1), multiple organ failure (1), sudden death (1), vaccine-associated paralytic poliomyelitis (2), toxic shock syndrome (3), and sepsis (1). The 10 deaths and 3 cases of disability were investigated by an expert commission, which concluded that 8 of the 13 severe events were vaccination-related."

"Tucked away in the far recesses of the Internet, a strange black market for chicken pox has been forming in Tennessee and nationally by parents who fear that required vaccines will harm their children. They purposely expose their children to viruses such as chicken pox, the mumps and measles, hoping they will develop natural immunity, which they argue is more effective than the vaccines. But with fewer children contracting those viruses because of widespread vaccine use, they are having to go to extreme lengths to catch them. Chicken pox parties are advertised through word of mouth, invitation-only Facebook groups and message boards. In October last year, a woman in Nashville was caught by a television station selling chicken pox-soaked lollipops for $50 a pop. "I have PayPal and plenty of spit and suckers," read the message on the Facebook group "Find a Pox Party In Your Area." "It works, too, because that's how we got it! Our round was Fed Ex'd from Arizona. We've spread cooties to Cookeville, Knoxville and Louisiana!" State public health officials said they also have heard reports of mothers sending spit-filled rags to one another to rub on their children. "My impression is that [chicken pox parties] are scattered across the U.S. and not terribly uncommon," said Tim Jones, the state epidemiologist with the Tennessee Department of Health. "It is a really misguided idea." A spokeswoman for the Georgia Department of Health said the state has no way of tracking or knowing the number of "pox parties" or parents who expose their children to chicken pox or any other childhood disease."

"Giant cell arteritis (GCA) and polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) are inflammatory rheumatic diseases common in people over the age of 50 years. Herein, we report 10 cases of previously healthy subjects who developed GCA/PMR within 3 months of influenza vaccination (Inf-V). A Medline search uncovered additional 11 isolated cases of GCA/PMR occurring after Inf-V. We discuss the role of individual susceptibility, the potential function of immune adjuvants as triggers of autoimmunity post-vaccination, and the correlation of our observation with the ‘ASIA’ syndrome, i.e. autoimmune/inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants and including post-vaccination phenomena."

The idea is that seniors need more antigen in order to provoke the desired immune response, because studies have found that the flu vaccine creates only a weak immune response in the elderly. "A 19-year-old woman, first observed in May 2010, 40 days after being vaccinated against the 2009 pandemic influenza A (H1N1) virus (Pandemrix™ - Lot A80CA254A), complained of acute and intense headache. Physical examination and general blood tests were unremarkable. A few days later, she presented with uncontrollable sleep attacks, a sensation of “dreaming with open eyes”, nightmares, and a poor quality of sleep. An electroencephalogram, an MRI of the skull, and thyroid laboratory test results were all found to be normal. She gained 9 kg (19.8 lbs) in two months. In September, she presented with cataplexy, hypophonia, and weakness in all limbs without falls. In February 2011, she experienced an episode of sleep paralysis but no hypnagogic hallucinations."
"We report a case of elderly-onset neuromyelitis optica (NMO) positive for the anti-aquaporin-4 (AQP-4) antibody; symptoms developed after the diagnosis of prostate adenocarcinoma and relapsed after a 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccination. We suggest that activation of CD4-positive T cells and secretion of interferon-gamma induced by adenocarcinoma and complement activation induced by vaccination are responsible for the onset and relapse of NMO, even if a patient is positive for the anti-AQP-4 antibody."
