1. "Allergic reaction to vaccines should be investigated"
"Some people have an allergic reaction after having an immunization, an experience that often -- and quite naturally -- leads to an avoidance of any future immunizations... However, when a serious reaction occurs, the patient should be evaluated by an allergist to determine the culprit allergen. This can be done through allergy testing. Vaccine components that could cause reactions include gelatin or egg protein, yeast, latex from the syringe plungers, neomycin and thimerosal."
Shari Roan, LosAngeles Times -- 10/9/2009

2. "Egg Allergies Make Flu Vaccines Risky"
"The amount of egg protein varies from one vaccine manufacturer to another so anyone concerned about allergic reactions should mention these concerns to their doctor and request a vaccine with the least egg protein possible. A skin test to detect allergic severity is a good idea before getting a flu shot, too. To be safest, don’t leave the medical facility for at least 30 minutes after getting a flu shot so the medical staff can monitor and respond to any allergic distress should it occur."

3. "Anaphylaxis from the Influenza Virus Vaccine."
"Conclusion: Based on clinical symptoms, skin testing, Immunocap testing and immunoblot evaluation, we feel that our patient is allergic to the infectious agent in the influenza vaccine as well as gelatin and ovalbumin in egg."
Coop CA, et al, Int Arch Allergy Immunol ;146(1):85-88 -- 12/14/2007

4. "Protect Yourself Against the Flu Vaccine!"
"The vaccine producers grow the vaccines, consisting of live viruses, in hens eggs, which when injected into the body can cause side effects such as redness and soreness at the injection site and a mild form of flu. Very serious complications arise in people who are taking immune-suppressing drugs or who have a heart condition. If you are allergic to eggs, having a flu-shot may also endanger your health."
